A great tribute to all miners, and now the light shines on the Chilean Men of the Deeps. Trapped seventy days in the deeps, and they lived to tell it all. This song by Rita MacNeil was written as a tribute for all.

@mikki2006 I have it also, I just figured since you usually ALWAYS see her sing it with the men of the deep, that I would post the one without them (for a change). I suppose I could post it.

This is at least my tenth attempt to comment here - previously I've broken down every time and have been too emotional to type ..... my beloved Dad worked himself to death to raise us - all he knew was hardship and toil - but at least he knew we all loved him so much . . . 35 years later this song reminds me how much I miss him . . . it is so, so bittersweet

Sorry you had such a hard time to comment. I know Youtube has some type of trouble with their site, it's too bad they don't have a "contact us " email so we can tell them. I know how you feel about your sadness. This song touches me too. Very well performed by Rita, as ONLY Rita can do it. Her voice is awesome, when it comes to sad songs.
