"It's scary when the ones who are going to drive the economic recovery and put people back to work are saying, 'We're going to hold off a bit because we don't know what our government is going to do.'" So says Brian Calle.
The columnist and editorial writer for the Orange County Register got fed up with public-sector jobs programs and sluggish private-sector job growth, so he decided to ask business owners why they weren't hiring. The result is an ongoing, multimedia project called "The CEO Solutions Series," in which business owners diagnose the problem and propose solutions.
Reason.tv's Ted Balaker sat down with Calle to discuss what should be done to spur private-sector growth, the role uncertainty plays in hiring decisions, why business leaders are often afraid to complain about public policy, and the myth of the laissez-faire CEO.
Approximately 10 minutes.
Interview by Ted Balaker. Shot by Hawk Jensen, Alex Manning, and Zach Weissmueller. Edited by Jensen

American workers got the 8 hour work day before their more unionized counterparts in Europe. Union mythology also claims that Unions have always been this positive force for minorities which is also not the case.

@drtyrat69 Well the thing is, is that we are in competition with jobs over seas, and unless we get rid of all these regulations and taxes we will have very minuet to no job growth. But also we need to get rid of taxes for the middle class as well, because whats the point of taxes? Taxes do not create jobs at all, they destroy jobs.

Why does any government have ANY say in how may hours we can work per day? Oh yeah, unions.....

Americans should no longer be held hostage by CEOs claiming that they will ship there company off shore unless the GOV. gives them all they want with the burden placed on the shoulders of the middle class.......They should take there BS somewhere else and they should no longer be able to sell there swill here....What a load of "CRAP"...

It is absurd to suggest that Obamacare has anything to do with the current job mess.
Clinton, Feinstein, and their partner McCain, pushed the so-called "Free Trade" laws that allowed massive "insourcing" to accelerate "offshoring".
It's STILL and will always be 'favorable'/aka cheaper, to hire in China or India. DUH!
Are they going to exterminate the workforce due to 'favorable market' RATES?
