http://www.savorthesuccess.com . http://www.youtube.com/savorthesuccess , http://www.omaroma.com . Hi, I'm Angela Jia Kim from SavorTheSuccess.com . Are you a control freak like I am? It's something I used to be very embarrassed about, but I've come to realize that it's okay to be a control freak. We just want to maintain a certain level of excellence in our businesses, and we want those around us - whether it's employees, VAs, contractors, etc. - to uphold that level of excellence as well! After all, what doesn't get checked usually doesn't get done. The issue is that if you are a control freak, you are also probably overwhelmed and stressed out. You are doing everything from "mopping the floors" to running a high-level PR campaign. Look, we've all read "The E-Myth" by Michael Gerber. We all know that we are not supposed to be working IN our businesses but rather working ON our businesses. So how do you let go?? That is my summer's project. I want to be the conductor of the orchestra, the conductor of my business. I don't want to be the "bassoonist" or the "violinist" of my business for the rest of my life. And it's impossible to grow a scalable business while you are trying to do it all. So what my husband, daughter, dog and I are going to do is pack our bags and get a country home in the Catskills for one year. We will, of course, have our place in Manhattan, but since I'm such a control freak, I have to literally extradite myself from my businesses and let go so I can manage it from far away and get some distance... and lead a healthier lifestyle. I'd love your support in knowing how to do this. I've come up with some solutions such as having my employees check in with me with their checklists. But how do you let go and still maintain a level of excellence? How do you make sure that when the "cat is gone, the mice don't play"? Subscribe to my youtube channel for more lifestyle and business tips... until next time, Savor the Success!

  • Angela,

I'd like to know about delegation as well. At your fabulous conference this March, Payson Cooper hit it on the head for me.

95% can be delegated, while 5% is to be run by me. (Or you.)

Since March, I've been looking for what can be delegated and how I can follow up with a check and balance system. There is so much that I want a certain way, therefore that perfectionism piece.

I'll check back with you when more ideas formulate!

    xo

    Susan
