Upon thinking about it, I think this song IS indeed about S.M. Stirling's Change series. There are some situations in the lyrics that literally happened in the first book, or that are refered to in the later ones.

Awsome. This song makes me think of S.M. Stirling's "The Change" series, and his other series that were set before and after it. Many of the characters attribute their survival to the training and experience they recieved in the SCA. Not just the fighting aspect, but also things like having a working knowledge of medievil technology. I can say that fighting in the SCA (heavy) has made me better at more than just fighting. It teaches you about body mechanics, reflexes, and such.
