SHIVA'S FLESH

Agori Santus are those Hindus that according to the myth eat semi-burned corpses, in order to raise closer to their godlike spirit. Do they exist or not? If they exist can we call them paranoiac cannibals or are they human beings who live in a reality that is impossible to be understood from us? Or even more, are they "little Gods" that we must respect them?

Everything is perfect on Shiva. One is not to be offended by their actions, but rather try to understand. I personally feel very attracted to experiencing what being an aghori would be like. You cannot criticize something just because you dont understand it. For the aghoris, just chanting the name of Lord Shiva is not enough praise. Also, remember they have a different understanding of things. Thats about it.

These acts are done to experience non duality. Vegetarianism, separatism from death, "good actions" are beneficial for society, but such things are a construct, creations of a society in which God is beyond. Concepts of nastiness are culturally relative. Am I recommending these techniques for all? No, society would collapse. Perhaps though through watching these images we may gain a peak beyond the veil of maya.pondering the beliefs behind such acts, and marveling at the aghori's freedom.
