Ernie Schlegel may be 66 years-old now, but that doesn't mean that the PBA and USBC Hall of Famer is slowing down. Here, the 7-time PBA champion shows up at Crosley Lanes early one Saturday morning to coach some local youth bowlers whom he introduced to the sport. Ernie spoke with BOWL.com about his unique career in action bowling and on the PBA Tour, including his notorious "Bicentennial Kid" days, and talks about what is ahead for him. Schlegel remains the oldest player ever to win a major (1996 USBC Masters, 53 years old) as well as the only player ever to be inducted into both major Halls of Fame in the same year (1997, PBA and USBC Halls).

A lot of people like watching Randy Pederson crash to the floor after leaving that solid 8. Ernie is the real star of that moment. The most entertaining bowler to ever grace my television screen.

THE REAL "BIG ERN"!!! I throw the ball similar to Ernie, the high-hard one from the outside line, right around the 5th-8th board, just not as good as he does.
I bowled the singles and doubles events in March 1996 at the 1996 Washington State Tournament at Crosley Lanes down in Vancouver, WA. It was my first time ever both at the State tournament and also at Crosley Lanes. My doubles partner Bob Saunders and I cashed as we tied for 99th place, good for $26.00 each. A beautiful bowling center.
