On January 13th, 1981, a certificate of incorporation was issued by the Missouri State Secretary of State to then Southwest Missouri State University Foundation Incorporated. Thirty years later, and with a total of $220 million in gifts and commitments, the Foundation has benefited Missouri State students, departments and programs through scholarships, endowed faculty positions, building projects and more.

This afternoon the Foundation announced 30 new scholarships and several significant gifts, totaling nearly $3 million, and has launched a year-long anniversary celebration. Over its 30 year history, many people have worked very hard to make the Foundation the success it is today.

Members of the current MSU Foundation Trustees are Ethel Curbow, Tony Foster, Larry Frazier, Rob Fulp, Bill Hixon, Gordon Kinne, Ken Meyer, Pat Sechler, Tom Strong, Jack Weimer, John Whittington, Noel Boyd, Ed Pinegar and Carol Pinegar, Mary McQueary, Bill Rowe and Brian Majors. Members of the 1981 Board of Regents and the first Foundation board are Bill Barclay, Virginia Dailey, Dwain Hammons, Ramona McQueary, and Edward Stracke.

On the court to congratulate them is Missouri State President James E. Cofer, Sr. Ladies and gentlemen, please acknowledge the people who have contributed to the successful 30 years for the Missouri State Foundation. They are in the Bancorp South Academic Spotlight.
