Singularity University Executive Director Salim Ismail interviews Dan Barry, former NASA astronaut and robotics entrepreneur, about the future of robotics and what we can expect over the next ten years.
@quantumG It is obvious that the morality of kicking Big Dog is similar to that of kicking a car but its the fact that Big Dog appears to be giving a response similar to that of a regular dog that wouild make one have an emotional response - and to let you know I havent actually seen this video but it seems like a common sense assumption to make.
@sexdrugsandrave Come on over here to America and get an education. I know that sounds easier said than done. We have aliens that sneak over the boarder and get into the universities. They are illegal but our government seems to look the other way. So there you go. But since you have the internet you can get all the education you want in just about anything. I got a degree in mathematics but really I learned 97% of it on my own. I really consider my self as a self taught. So get busy.
@sexdrugsandrave Then I put it to you that the fault lies with the larger social system that prevents (or at least makes it hard) for people to get involved in the kind of things that will save humanity in the future. Robotics should be taught in primary school. Perhaps things should be different? how about this view: /watch?v=kPMlXtzvohI; or v=A4b9wOpqL-w&feature=related; (requires patience and careful consideration to understand)
i live in the north west of england and there are NO oppertunities for me to be part of the growing technoligy of robots, i've loved robotics since i was about 8, im 16 now and im struggling to find a college that specialises in electrical engineering or programming, im realy quite sad that i might not follow my dream.
@quantumG I notice their really trying hard to search for the fact that humans will treat robots with some respect. Of course the question is only really important when robots can feel some type of pain, But; maybe they can't accept the fact that humans are justed cold hearted bastards when comes to competition.
@yemo34 I actually found the video, the audience didn't have an emotional response at all. Barry tried to elicit an emotional response to the Big Dog kick and the audience laughed at him.
I hope to see a real robot personally and to witness its greatness.
