2009 Canada Games torch run - Premier Ghiz

Premier Robert Ghiz was in Wood Islands on Monday, August 10 to kick off the torch relay for the 2009 Canada Games which take place from August 15-29 across the Island. Canada Games mascots Abbie and Eddie arrived on the ferry around 10am Monday and passed the torch off to Joseph Spriet, president of the Canada Games Host Society. Mr Spriet and Premier Ghiz then cut a ribbon to signify the beginning of the torch relay, after which the premier began the first leg of the run toward Montague.
