I have a question about something (which I ask with respect, and I hope you will not take as a criticism of yourself or Islam): you said there is no clergy in Islam. My question is, what then is an Imam? A scholar?

about ur question we as a muslims believe that Allah the most great have all the discriptions of holyness so Allah do not need any one between him and us.he is very close and can know even what we r thinking about

the rule of imam is only to remind us with what allah said and as his profession is to study islam,we can ask them about what we do not know and they answer us only from Qoraan and what prophet said

نشر الخلاف بين العلماء سلاح ذو حدين له مميزات وعيوب

العيوب انه بيلخبط عامة الناس وبيفرقهم ويبين أمام غير المسلمين اختلافاتنا

المميزات انه يبين أخطاء العلماء والمشايخ علشان يحذر الناس منها

ومن أنهم يقتدوا بيهم

يعني الشعراوي فعلا كان له أخطاء كثيرة أدت الى نشوء جيل كامل يعتمد على آراؤه كلها كفتاوي

مع ان منها كتير خطأ وتتعارض مع آراء غالبية الأئمة الكبار الأقدم منه

لذلك وجب التحذير من اتباع كل كلامه من غير بحث

hi , imam is diffrent from for ex a priest , we don have mediation like in christianity or any other relgion for ex wen u have sinned u ask God directelly to forgive u. no one in islam can give any law if its not from quran and sunna, in christianti u have to confess frist, imam or schooler simply means the one who have knowlege more than u and lead u due to his knowledge not because he is closer to GOD than u , only God knows who is closer, in christianty the pop and the priests are closer,
