You are very lucky with the patience of the dog. Most dogs will (rightfully so) bite after this much ears- and eye-picking. Please, with all due respect, don't allow a baby to do this to a dog. It can go right many times, but there will come a time when a dog that says no. Great dog btw, and a great kid ;)

omg this video is plain cute. Clearly the Bassett is fine as it moves everytime the baby is too annoying. I love it its funny. My baby cousin use to do this to our great dane until he would walk away.

I get why a lot of people are complaining about the roughness (the nose excavation made me cringe) but it's not a big deal. If the dog didn't like it she would've left, bassets are extremely patient but when they've had enough they'll move. I was raised with one from birth and did PLENTY to him, as children do. He'd just lay there and take it, if he didn't like what I was doing he'd get up and move to a different spot and keep moving from spot to spot until I got the hint. He was an awesome dog.

Not to be rude, but this is horrible. You need to teach your baby to be more gentle. And this is nothing to make a youtube video about.....
This child is clearly abusing this poor basset hound. I believe someone should contact basset rescue in the area the poster lives in. That dog is screaming "RESCUE ME". Look at how evil the child looks, like he is a demon from hell. They must separate child and basset. The child should be given away to a baby shelter. Don;t worry if their is a high kill rate. You have a cute baby, he will go right away. Too bad we can't find a nice farm where he would be happy on.

Oh very droll. If you could learn to spell I might take your comments a bit more seriously. Well can't win them all.

It's one thing to see a baby and Basset together and be cute. It's clear that the baby don't understand yet, but be an adult and don't encourage anymore rough housing by offering the dogs ear. The baby is exploring and the dogs eyes should not be the subject at hand. Please supervise and don't allow the dog to be subjected to that....

We've had Basset Hounds for more than 40 years: the one in the video is 7 years old so we think we know precisely how far to go. Wouldn't attempt this with any other breed. That's why I put it up.
