Do you know what Millennium Development Goals (or MDGs) are?

LECUPO (that's us - a NGO) organized an youth exchange - „Think globally, act locally" between 15-22 Sep 2010 in Romania with 35 lucky people from Romania, Belgium, Turkey, Estonia, Slovenia, Poland and Lithuania. This Youth Exchange was financed by the European Commission through the Youth in Action programme.

The main topic was the MDGs of the United Nations. The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are eight international development goals that all 192 United Nations member states and at least 23 international organizations have agreed to achieve by the year 2015.

They include eradicating extreme poverty, reducing child mortality rates, fighting disease epidemics such as AIDS, and developing a global partnership for development.

Goal 1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
Goal 2: Achieve universal primary education
Goal 3: Gender equality
Goal 4: Reduce child mortality rate
Goal 5: Improve maternal health
Goal 6: Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases
Goal 7: Ensure environmental sustainability
Goal 8: Develop a global partnership for development
