Menlo School's class of 2011 and Menlo Moviemaking humbly present the first of what we hope will be an annual tradition. Students worked on this idea (off and on) for a year. DP Austin Tamaddon, Producer Tucker King and the team of students who worked on the project researched the best lips dubs on the web. They chose to create their video in a particular, "traditional" lip dub style.
Soloists and groups rehearsed with the producers and DP to go over their parts. The whole class rehearsed together for 45 minutes, on March 21, 2011 (in the rain!) and then shot in 45 minutes (4 takes) on April 8, 2011.
The senior class got enthusiastically on board in the winter, and the class picked the song. We owe a debt to the creators of our favorite lip dubs: the University LipDub folks at HW Furtwangen in Germany for their "257 Days" piece, Calvin College's "So Much Love", UQAM's "I Gotta Feelin", and the "original" lip dub by the College Humor (et al) folks "Flagpole Sitta".
Students at Menlo, headed by Rebecca Hao and Jack Redman, are currently working on a "making of" video about this shoot. That movie will be available online in late May, 2011. We'll get links to it connected here! Enjoy!
