Students followed the Ganga (Ganges) River system from the Himalayas down to Calcutta and beyond as they took part in two upper level Geology courses:
1. "Water Resources of India" focuses on the efforts of government to stimulate economic growth while protecting the environment and cultural resources of the river system. The course covers basic water resources and hydrology principles and then delves into issues specific to India.
2. "Pollution in the Developing World" focuses on the fundamental physical, chemical, and biological processes that affect transport and fate of both human-induced and natural pollutants in the environment. Students examine the urban and rural environments in northern and eastern India along the Ganges River Basin.
