With the Talay & Knutsson Project/Nye Toner i Nord the Swedish saxophone player Jonas Knutsson and the Turkish baclama player Fuat Talay have created a meeting point between the Nordic and the Anatolian/Turkish folk music traditions together with some of the most outstanding jazz and folk musicians in Scandinavia.

FUAT TALAY
Fuat Talay has played and sung anatolian folk musik since the age of 10. He has been touring around the world. In the later years he has played baglama (saz) with artists such as the Kurdish singer Sivan Perwer, the diva of Turkish folk music Sabahat Akkiraz, and the Danish resident Arabic singer Aida Nadeem's band "Arabtronic".

Fuat has in cooperation with Efkar Ensemble in Sweden released the album "Back to Anatolia" with the record company Caprice Records. Fuat Talay's newest album, 'Sufisticated', presents a well-balanced mix between traditional Turkish-Oriental melodies and modern, electronica beats wrapped in an ambient soundscape. Furthermore he has participated as organiser and has played saz on numerous albums.

Political unrest along with the lack of freedom of speech in Turkey, forced him to abandon his native country, witch he still cannot return to.


JONAS KNUTSSON
Soprano, alto, baritone, sopranino saxophonist and composer.

Began in 1980 with the jazz rock group Cabazz and has since worked with a number of different groups, artists and projects within jazz, fusion and folk music.

Some examples are: Mynta, Elise Einarsdotter Ensemble, Encore, Enteli, Nordan, Jonas Knutsson Band, Triptyk, Stockholm Folk Big Band, Världsorkestern, Bertrand Renaudin..s Larbre Voyage (France) and Berger Knutsson Spering.

Jonas is organiser, composer and arranger for the group Horn Please and Jonas Knutsson Quartet. He is also in the project "Annanya" were musicians from Sweden and Bengali meet. His latest CD productions are:
"Horn Please" on Country & Eastern, "Himlen har inga hål" together with swedish poet Thomas Tidholm on Paraphone, "Skaren" on ACT together with guitarist Johan Norberg, "Jonas Knutsson Mats Öberg Live" on Country & Eastern, "A Remark You Made" Memories of Joe Zawinul with Jonas Knutsson Quartet on Touche Music.
