I sing this at church. Doing a paper on Sacred Music and inculturation-this one gets minus points I'm afraid. Bad text, bad music, yuck! I hope that some better music will become available. This is not worthy of Catholic Worship. HOWEVER I'm really happy its online...need it for my track CD! Thank you!

Thank you both! Music is so wonderful that way, isn't it? The published version will help a lot though! lol Thanks again...

I like this, I like it better than the Gospel Acclamations we usually sing.

That's excellent. It's great to hear talented musicians working for God!

Does anyone know the composer of this version? Or what book it is in?

@michellenist The chorus is a traditional Carribean melody. I wrote the verse music and did the arrangement. Thanks

@michellenist Not to cause problems, this is a cool arrangement, but to answer your question, the PUBLISHED version of this Acclamation appears in Gather, put out by GIA. In that version, the vocal arrangement is done by John Bell and Graham Maule. Also in the published version, Marty Haugen composed the verses (which are not the verses being sung here), the accompaniment and alternate harmony.

@HosannaNtheHighest Thanks for the info. No disrespect, but most of the time, I wrote my own arrangements according to the instruments and singers that we have. I will just get the simple melody and work from there. That is why the chord progressions are more commercialized, the tempo is either a little slower or faster and sometimes that delivery is different than what you normally hear in your parish. We play in big gatherings and they seem to like it because they invite us again.
