Crysis 8500 GT 8500GT medium

running Crysis on 8500 GT on medium settings mostly except for sound quality and physics quality, but they only affect CPU, i believe. i get about 14 frames per sec which is not playable.

on low settings it is just about playable, i get 20-30 frames per sec which is fine for crysis imo.

the rest of my specs are:
(Dell dimension 5100)
Pentium 4 3.20ghz (codename prescott)
XFX 8500GT 512MB, i think it's 512MB
305W power supply
2GB RAM

the GFX card runs very hot. in idle it gets about 70 C! and when playing crysis it's 100 C almost!! but i've had it for almost half a year and i've no problems so far.

i'd recommend getting a better card than this for about the same price. i suggest a 7 series card like 7950GT, i've seen quite low pricese for that card.

7950GT may not be DX10 compatible, but let's face it, Crysis looks fine in high settings and you probably won't even play on high settings anyway, more likely medium unless you've lots of money in which case you'd get a much better card than 7950GT.

i had a P4 @ 3.0 ghz, 1.5 gb ddr2 ram and an ati raedon x1650 pro with 512 vram and i still ran this game better on medium with some minor settings adjustments..

@xxl606 Nah.Even with a better 4 core or 2 core the difference wont be more than 10 fps. 8500 gt is not very good.

@punkster4eva mine gets min 20 - 30 tru fax its overclocked to 650 mhz tough and I have 4gb of ram and I use a phenom II x4, I put everything on medium but whater and textures that are on high, i still have not reached the level were people say things get homo, anyway i am going to a 460 gtx 2 months from now aprox. I am poor you know

@punkster4eva a 9800 or 8800 is fine for all your games , is just that directx11 shit that is ruining everything and now that fucking pci 3.0, you can also play on the lowest res or use the sli bridge whit other 8500 if you have 2 PCi ports.

It's is called "lag" it is not a rare specimen but very dangerous. Its most common side effect is "Rage Quit" or "Rage". It may not seem like you have been infected, but you are. The only cure is a better system and better connection.

videocard benchmark....these cards will play crysis 2 on highest possible with over 50+ fps :D
