I sense sarcasm. Though it could be considered pro- war by blind people, this mocks the complacency of the people who honored the heroes who killed countless people and made the atomic bomb. I guess we had to kill those damn japs anyway.
I'd be happy if the war ended too.

Obviously the melody of this tune is heavily derivative of the old 1919 chestnut, "Alice Blue Gown" but I believe that was probably intentional on Harry's part.
