This video follows I-40 West thru the city of Albuquerque. Includes footage of the "Big I" interchange at I-25, the largest and busiest interchange in the state of New Mexico.

  • Stayed on "Menaul"!! Love the Cheesecake factory!

  • @Shesh426: Ha, I didn't read this until now. Not sure exactly what you're referring to, regarding the "Menaul" comment, but the Cheesecake Factory, I can agree, is quite tasty. :-)

  • @ FreewayBrent

I recently discovered your videos and i have found them very enjoyable to watch. Do you have any of I-40 going through arizona?

  • I don't have all the details, but Tramway Blvd to Paseo del Norte Blvd to Coors Blvd were supposed to be a freeway loop. However, someone took control of the project and decided to develop around these areas which turned them into city streets instead.

  • Great interchange. I was there twice this summer and loved the ramp going west to I25 south.

  • 2:26~2:38 -> The truck went against the traffic regulation called "No truck left lane."

  • @FreewayBrent where I was thinking the speed limit should be 60 instead of 65 is the parts of I-40 that are eight lanes because you have to really concentrate when driving on a freeway especially in a city.

Do you think 60 would be too slow for this freeway or not really?

  • @cubsrule2040: I can see why you would feel that way. It's a busy freeway that peak's at over 180,000 vehicles on Friday's. However, with the recent reconstruction, the whole route through the city is now up to modern interstate standards, and there aren't any particular curves of note that would necessitate a lower speed limit. The speed limit on urban stretches, just outside of Nashville for example, are 70 MPH.

  • @FreewayBrent In my opinion the speed limit on I-40 in Albuquerque should be 60 rather than 65.

  • @CaptainPlanet2020: I guess I'm kind of ambivalent, as to whether or not Albuquerque should build a beltway. I think in the long-run, sprawl will eventually spread out along both I-25 and I-40, due to a lack of freeway access, once you get away from both corridors (and due to the growing population, which will naturally demand new housing). Perhaps a beltway around the city would encourage new development to sprout up along the beltway, rather than 25 or 35 miles out, along both I-25/I-40?
