Cokie Roberts: Being Against Iraq in Beginning "Getting Old"

On This Week with George Stephanopoulos Cokie Roberts said this in response to Sam Donaldson saying Obama needed to respond to Clinton's 3am ad.

"Well his answer of course is that he has, that he had the judgement to be against Iraq from the beginning. I think that's getting old. Uh we've heard that Iraq argument. We've heard about his Iraq speech we've blah blah blah blah blah and he's got to come up with something else. In the exit polls in Ohio and Texas....sixty percent of the people in one state fifty six in another said that she uh had the ability to be commander in chief uh and he did not, and that's a real problem. When you're voting for president the first thing you're voting for is commander in chief."

So being against Iraq from the beginning is "getting old"? Pardon me? And being commander in chief is the first thing people vote for? I see how well that's worked out for George Bush.

Well, that fact of the matter is, right now McCain has actually passed Obama in the polls...ALL OF THEM. The faith forum showed Obama's inability to communicate without a teleprompter. Uh...er....um....uh.....

McCain was direct and gave straight answers. Most of Obama's were nuanced and vague. At times he avoided answering altogether. McCain sured up his base and gained a lot of independents and even some moderate democrats. Obama either is hiding his true convictions or he has none.

It's not getting old. In fact, it is paring away support for Clinton. Clinton didn't have the judgement then and she doesn't have it now, and this fact, is taking us from being behind in the polls to winning primaries.
