  • Artur should have won in 94 IMO.

  • Artur was a brilliant and dedicated skater and it speaks volumes that he was able to get a gold medal with 2 different partners. Their style was different from G&G, but to me, it was fascinating to see their friendly rivalry and what each would come up with next. Say what you want, but Artur's 1992 and 1994 Olympic programs were unforgettable and completely unmatched even today.

  • G and G had a very subtle artistry and better skating skills. Just because the audience clapped for grand gestures and gymnastics tricks in M and D's routine does not mean the performance was better. The artistic mark was apples and oranges...with each team displaying the right amount of "passion" as was needed for their music.

  • mostriiiiiiiiiiiiii! una padronanza della pista unica! lei è sempre stata una delle mie pattinatrici preferite per la classe e l'eleganza

  • She had a phobia for death spirals? Why? I was always under the impression that it the least dangerous of all the pair moves. Interesting.

  • I believe they had to do an outside death spiral - it was a requirement for the short program.

  • No, I don't agree with you. I think Arthur better has more feeling and more passion and more artistic power. Sergej is just an excellent skater and he and the young Katja were a sensation in 1988. But in 1994 Mischkutonok and Dmitriev were the better pair and the public clearly noticed that. The judges didn't and prefered the pair from Moscow to the pair of St. Petersburg.

  • I loved Mishkutienuk and Dmitriev! I thought they were the most passionate and artistic skaters of all time. I was so dissapointed when Gordeeva and Grinkov won gold in 1994. Just shows how subjective this sport is I supposse and that even the IJS scoring can't remove that

  • it is not 2001 space odyssey...though they used the music but actually SPRACH ZARATHUSTRA By Richard Strauss (1864-1949). Strauss

  • Hi bunnyrabbit9999: I agree with you about Artur--he was a passionate skater who also had technique and determination. He had two extraordinary partners in Natalia and Oksana, but when he was on the ice, with whichever partner, you just couldn't take your eyes off him (at least I couldn't, and still can't, watching these videos now). I was a big fan of Katya and Sergei, but you are absolutely right about different styles: unison and opposition. There is no one like Artur competing today....

  • One comment about the death spiral: Oksana was very weak in those, and even admitted her phobia at having to do them. Also, they did an outside edge spiral, which to me never looks as impressive as the more deeper, closer to the ice, inside edge death spirals.
