I certainly won't discuss the reasons of creating this piece of madness, but rather discuss the technical details and aspects.
First of all, the music that has been used:
0:00 - 0:31: 'Retribution' by EVE Online
0:32 - 0:44: 'Antrozous' by Hans Zimmer, batman begins. You can hear this song very briefly as a sounde ffect.
0:31 - 1:51: 'Infiltrate' by Halo 3
software and hardware we used:
camera - Sony digital 8 TR7000E
software - Avid Liquid and Cool Edit Pro
Almost every shot in the intro had been color corrected to make it look more black and dramatic. I made the most changes in the Y channel. I amplified the channel alot, and then reduced the black in the channel resulting in the black being even more black. I also reduced the saturation a bit so that the video looked less colourful.
Normally I de-noise the whole raw footage before I begin to edit... But this time I forgot to de-noise the footage, resulting in some artistic looking images in the intro. Because I did some color correction the noise was better and sharper visible, but this resulted in an artistic sort of noise. It isn't visible on youtube because of the compressed video, but at high quality it is visible. I could have de-noised the rest of the video afterwards, but since you'll never see it on youtube I decided to leave it as it was.
The slowmotions (Oh, I'm really excited about those slowmotions) were done in Avid, and I found the 'woosh' sound effect somewhere on the internet.
The reason why I edited the slowmotions is first of all because I think it looks reálly cool. Since the beginning of editing this video I speculated how great it would be if I made some mega slowmotions. The second reason is because there is só much happening in a few seconds, that you just need the slowmotion to see all the details. Without the slowmotion it only takes about 10 seconds. With the slowmotion you have thee feeling it all takes a bit longer.
Avid couldn't slow down the sound of the footage (I don't know why), so I had to do that in Cool Edit Pro.
A great thing to know: I really didn't do any contrast or color correction on the shots where the bomb exploded. I just used the raw footage, and in real-live it just looked the same, colorful and sparkling... Kinda cool, isn't it?
Well, I think I don't have anything more to explain...
