@SpiceSE90 He knows that you can store solar power; he is talking about storage that could enable solar to actually replace oil. That requires an entirely different level of solar capture and storage. You aren't going to charge your electric car up at night on the solar power that was produced during the day. That would require an enormous amount of stored solar power.
As far as "no solution", I can only surmise that you didn't pay any attention to the fact that his job is working on solutions.
This guy has no idea what he's talking about. Of course you can store solar power at night - they're called batteries.
"Peak Oil" is a cult of idiots. For them, there's always no solution. And peak oil is always just around the corner. The peak oil nutters have been warning of the end, for the past 150 years.
Don't worry, there's plenty of abiotic oil. It's most likely renewable but the oil companies want you to think that it's scarce so they can charge you more for it.
One of the better videos addressing Peak Oil and the problems of mitigating it. In truth there is NOT a solution other than a dramatic change of lifestyle and most likely an unpleasant population decline.

He underates the potential downside of this. Reccession? Depression? The honest posibility that he didn't mention was famine on a global scale.

come sempre.
