Aliso Village Housing project in Los Angeles are demolished

In 1999 the City of Los Angeles began the demolition of the Aliso Village Housing projects located on the west side of where the 101 Hollywood Freeway and 10 San Bernardino Freeway intersect. This was where the East LA Dukes, a Hispanic street gang, where located for many years. Many thought that the gang along with surrounding gang such as Primera Flats, Cuatro Flats and The Mob Crew would have a lesser presence in the community, but not only did the ELA gang reclaim the community after construction, rivalries with other neighborhoods continued.

The new area is called Pueblo Del Sol.

This is LA History. Both my mother and father (African American) grew up here back in the day. They told us stories of the many jewish & latino friends they had as neighbors. Hope someone will write the real story of the princes of LA.

@MarcoCaifan87 the aliso village projects belong to East La Trece Dukes since they were the biggest at the time ES TMC was in pecan park altthough few did live in aliso Primera and cuarto flats were in aliso although they were much smaller than east la and the other housing unit is not the same it is called pueblo del sol now but no gangs their know
