Here's a message for the anniversary of 9/11 - The religious numbers are showing steady decline & the ranks of the Non-Religious are growing - currently the world's 3rd largest ideological group. Reason & Rational intelligence is overcoming the delusional ignorance of fictional & superstitious religions. We have the power as a modern society to prevent an atrocity like 9/11 from ever happening again - but fundamentalist religion must go extinct before peace & harmony can prevail. We are changing & progressing slowly, but it is fast enough?

Secularism doesn't always win against religion and superstition. One would wish it would, but it doesn't.

Up until the very first years after christ, it appeared that science was pushing steadily forward. Then bang! Christianity grew to domination and mankind sunk to the darkest ages it ever experienced.

Things in the large picture are getting better indeed, but history teaches us that they won't stay like that. The ignorant would rather have a war.

@darkmater4tm - I can't disagree with your statements & perspective, but humanity has come a long way in the last 400 years of scientific discovery. As science continues to evolve, so will humanity....we hope. I was only 235 years ago that the first secular government came into being......I just hope it can survive & help build a global secular society, eventually. I am not sure what is more dangerous to humanity; corrupt government or religion, but the two teaming up together is very bad!
