Bill (Spencer Tracy) bring homeless girl Trina (Loretta Young) to his Hooverville shanty to live, which challenges his restless attitude and free spirit.
It's interesting how only a few years later, with the rise of the Hays office and the production code, that much of the content of this film would not have been allowed--premarilal sex, baby conceived out of wedlock, etc. Although,I loved many of the movies made under the production code, sometimes that code was too limiting.
He was so rude to her. I gusss, they tried to make him look macho :(

What a great film. It should be known by more people. But I guess that's the fate of many pre-code movies.
