  • Clemente's throwing arm was incredible. Mays had a cannon for an arm, Clemente had a rocket. Clemente was also quite possibly the best bad ball hitter of all time.

  • Yes, that music is haunting but what a player Clemente was. He is the true definition of a 5 tool player that only comes along maybe once in a generation. There were so many great players I watched in the 1960's when I was a kid that I almost forgot how great they were. Mantle, Mays, Aaron, Clemente, McCovey, Stargell, Bench, Koufax, Drysdale, Gibson, Brock,Banks, Ryan, Seaver,Killebrew, Carew,Marichal, Robinson, Rose etc.

You could make an all century team just off of those guys

  • @Ike2RulZ4 Correction: Vlad is the greatest bad ball hitter of all time!!!

  • I have nothing against Mays, but after rounding first on a single for a sec, then realizing that you just been called out because you didn't pay attention to Roberto Clemente firing the ball back 400 feet away from right field, in time before you can put your foot back on the bag. Btw he did that Mays as well.

  • why would a woman be narratoring this? This is men's game watched mostly by men.

  • Clemente was the greatest player I ever saw...take a look at highlights from the '71 World Series..... the thing that struck me the most was the fury of how he ran the bases...he hit a triple in one of the games and watching him round second base and slide into third safely....just amazing.....he poured his soul into everything he did on a baseball field much like the way that Billie Holiday poured her soul into everything she sang. I'm just glad that I was around in the late 60's to see it.

  • I always enjoy watching sports documentaries like these, whether they are about baseball or hockey. They literally bend time and space.

Watching the footage of, and listening to the commentary on, Roberto Clemente; at first made me put my face in my hands. Of course, that was quickly replaced with admiration for a marvellous and magnificent man and ball player who remains a hero for me and so many others.

Thank you so much for posting this video.

  • I will like live in that time to watch baseball :).

  • they took doubleheaders away for more revenue

  • DOUBLEHEADER CORRECT BUT BECAUSE THEY WANTED MORE REVENUE THEY TOOK THAT AWAY FROM YOU

  • @kirbycol4 You're right; they were a thing of beauty, but don't forget Warren Spahn. For a classic delivery, I can't think of anyone better.
