  • approx 5 months ago i landed on my thigh (sports injury) and a lump came upand there has been pain in my groin area, i've been having physio (doing various stretches) but have just been discharged and referred back to the doctor for an x-ray and possibly surgery if required. does anyone know if there is anything else i can do to help it? if i do have to have surgery does anyone know how long the healing period is? and if i will be able to return to my normal phsyical activies?

  • @xsjad0man It all depends on exactly what the problem is. It's not appropriate to speculate without knowing so wait until you have had an X-ray and hopefully things will be clearer. Good luck!

  • so here it goes.. i dont play any sports, but i think i moved wrong and stretch\pulled my groin.. feels better when i put a pillow between my legs

  • @LeGette88 How long ago? Usual advice is to rest, ice and stretch gently if pain free.

  • i just pulled my groin muscle last night playin soccer. first time this happens and its KILLING me. it feels heavier than normal, i cant walk straight, my left leg has to be resistance free, cant even stretch. idk what to do

  • @calibur07 Rest it and apply ice and a compression bandage. This is all you can do for the first couple of days, until gentle stretching is painfree.

  • Before last winter, I went to a specialist, but it didn't help. I don't know what to do anymore and I'm very depressed. It has really ruined my life as a sportsman :(

  • Just want to say that last may 2011, I got my first groin strain in the right side when warming up for a football practice.

I took pauses all the time from 1 month to 3 months at a time. Each time I tried coming back to football, it took about an hour before the pain came back... Today was the firs day I have played football since last September. I thought I was fine but guess what? It's still there. I couldn't play good like I used to.This groin strain has ruined my career and mybody movement

  • @kelly980 wait, do not play on it, do not make it a chronic injury like i did, I havent been able to get back in to sports or do any form of cardiovascular exercise for a year. rest, rest, rest

  • @chuddy1416 I experience no balance problems, I have built up other muscles in my leg though, as hip flexors and other leg muscle groups have taken more of my weight, paradoxically this has benefitted me in over all strength. best of luck with your recovery mate, I do literally feel your pain!

  • @chuddy1416 EXACT SAME situation as you, all my life I had picked up knocks and literally ran them off, with no ramifications later down the line. So i assumed the same result would apply with this latest injury. Played on it again, continued to work out, went running and severely damaged my groin. A year later I am months away from playing football, and may never be able to play the way I once did or as regularly. Too right, DO NOT PLAY on a groin strain, rest it - be disciprined

  • groin strains are a bitch guys, I will beat it! eventually...

  • i have been out for a year, i am still trying to make a come back, no soccer, or running for a year! i am going crazy!!

  • @chuddy1416 hi mate your problem sounds similar to mine! done mine last footy game of season in may, still not sorted, been given exercises by a physio but dont seem to be doin anything. really wanna play footy again but cant seem to shrug the pain. kicking a ball fucking kills yet running dont seem too bad. whats your MRI scan results given ya?? have u managed to get any better?
