It has been said that the frozen parts of our planet, also known as the cryosphere, may be the proverbial 'canary in the coal mine' when it comes to climate change. This video shows some of the most dramatic fluctuations to our cryosphere in recent years using visuals created with a variety of satellite-based data.

  • we fucked up the earth.

    o well.

  • yep , they just want us to care so WE would pay for their comfort.

96% of people have 4 % of the money in the world and 4% of people have 96% of the money in the world.

And those 4% want us to deal with their problems.

What did i do to start global warming ? Im 21 years old , the most hazardous thing i did is driving VW polo 1.4 for 2 years.

And they blew up mountains , built factories , killed rare animals for fun .

I never did this and il try not to do this also.

But i will not pay for them.

  • @Covey69 FYI - I just looked at the data - 2007 had the lowest Arctic sea ice extent than any other year measured....

  • @Covey69 These points are not ignored for any reason other than they don't really make sense for a con to the argument.

Two years later after your post - The North-West passage is free of ice and a major shipping lane has opened up. Care to change your stance or do we have to wait longer until we are in a worse situation?

  • @Covey69

The Arctic is supposed to gain ice in October. You should, like everything, look at the long term trend not just one data point! There was ice on Greenland when the European settlers where there - that is why they can take core samples that trace back 1000s of years - Greenland went through a more extensive cooling period which took away the small amount of land there was for farming - (read Collapse).

  • I have a theory- global warming is an incorrect term, climate change is more correct. The warmer it gets, the more water in the atmosphere. During the winter, this falls as snow, which reflects sunlight back up. More water = more snow. more snow = more sunlight reflected and lower temperatures. This will mean extremely hot dry summers too. Eventually, one will outweigh the other, either the ice does not melt or the world is hot all year round. Either way, we'll starve or freeze to death. grim :/

  • @Covey69

because you have to be afraid and guilty in order for you to obey and do what you're told to do.

just like religion, yo, you're a sinner if you think about sex ( guilt ) and then threaten with hell fire = obey

  • the ending was creepy in a sense. some say there IS no global warming... but what if they're wrong? if they're right? YAY! but wrong? cant even imagine what Manhattan will look like.

  • Look at the data. Data are measurements. Data don't "care" what anyone believes, or how they vote. Have a good day.

  • wow global warming is coming full speed head, may God help us all

  • Temperatures are not increasing. The American taxpayers are paying NASA to conduct science, not political science.

  • We have had alot hotter periods of time on Earth, and we have had alot colder time periods. It all changes with solar activity. The Earth has actually cooled down within the last 7 years, but all you hear about is global warming and how humans are causing it. If you think for one second that throwing money around can prevent a natural disaster, you are WRONG! They are not called "Human Preventable Disasters", they are naturally occuring and none have ever been avoided by money changing hands.
