  • Most of this is good information...However, 99% of people with hypothyroid in 1st world countries, have it because of an autoimmune condition called Hashimoto's, in which the body produces antibodies that destroys the thyroid gland. ( Because of this the raw food diet is helpful) But IODINE is DANGEROUS for people with Hashimotos...the iodine-deficient type of hypothyroidism is found in third world countries. For MOST people in the US or Europe with hypothyroidism, iodine is contraindicated.

  • was looking up information trying to learn more about ths cause of my moms n came across this " Overconsumption of uncooked "goitrogenic" foods, such as brussels sprouts, broccoli, rutabaga, turnips, kohlrabi, radishes, cauliflower, African cassava, millet, babassu, cabbage and kale" <- true untrue?

  • I hate taking synthroid & am angry that I was tested for thyroid problem yrs ago & it came inconclusive so why now all of the sudden I have thyroid problem according 2my doc. I was on that meds for 6months but ran out but am gonna go ask for those test before taking any meds again. What about Goitrogenic foods? Radiation from electronics including fridge etc.... so much affecting us. Also in Chinese Med they say the root of the prob is kidneys? Kelp a better source of iodine? Thx : )

  • Very interesting, thanks for sharing.

I found some herbs that Brigitte Mars suggest:

    * Bugleweed herb is used to reduce an enlarged and hyperactive thyroid. It is a thyroxine antagonist.

    * Irish moss, soothes swollen glands. It is a a nutritive and moistening tonic for the body.

    * Motherwort herb calms heart palpitations, anxiety, and thyroid enlargement.

    * Mullein leaf is used for hyperthyroidism and to reduces glandular inflammation.

    * Nettle seed are considered a thyroid tonic.

  • @labamba7 I first switched from Synthroid (synthetic) to "natural" a few years ago after struggling with the origins for a very long time. But then I spoke with Brian Clement and he was adamant about NOT taking synthetics and the only choice (at that time) was Armour (from pigs). Then, I found a local doc who did the correct testing. But, Armour changed formula and is not even available right now. My doc then sent me to compound pharmacy and I just started "Thyroid" 1 grain 2x per day.

  • anybody see the part I yet?
