  • It is one of a several songs dealing with Joyce, his relationship with Nora Barnacle, his father and his 'friends'. This tune is meant to be a tongue-in-cheek skit by the 'great poet's' friends' who taunt him for falling in love with a mere hotel maid, a 'skivvy'. So, it's a bit forced...
