This music and song makes me proud!
Dolly forever!!!!

Brilliant song, brilliantly sung. I have done a little research on it as I wanted to get the sheet music, which I can't find. It seems that she did not actually write it and that it might have been Curly Putman's work. However, lists of Putman's songs in various place do not include it. Strange.

I don't think so, but I have three of them--one never opened!!!
I will never forget when she first came on the Porter Wagonner Show!!!

Dolly recorded two albums for Monument, this one, and AS LONG AS I LOVE. Though the actual albums were never issued on CD, In the late 1980s, most of the songs from both albums were issued on a two-CD set called THE WORLD OF DOLLY PARTON, and should be available on eBay or Amazon.

So this is how it all began...
Charming...

This was her first SOLO hit, but it wasn't the first time she appeared on a record. Dolly did a duet in 1966 with Bill Phillips on a song entitled "Put It Off Until Tomorrow". She wasn't credited on that particular single, but you can tell that that was her voice backing up Phillips.

Yep that's right - and she co-wrote the song with her uncle Bill Owens. :)
