Another reason they dont do that is that OF wasn't made by Valve and isnt considered to be canon to the story.

actually those "Gonomes" looked somthing like that enemy from HL2 at the end when u see in the citydel but u never get to fight in neither episode 1 or 2 just the combine modified it. thats my opinion. oh and the pit drones shot spikes when they hit a wall u can actally see them what they look like just like the crossbow great vid 5/5

I think the reason they didnt do that is because the headcrabs arent from Xen in HL2.I think they were somehow created or changed by the combine,so they dont have the same effect.Thats what im thinking,anyway.

The spikey things are called pit drones.

The big zombies are called "Gonomes" apparently a long-term zombie mutates into them somehow. Doesn't make much sense since the zombies in Ravenholm didn't do that.
