This Aeolian Orchestrelle is the Model 'Y' - the largest built by Aeolian, and is a 58 note roll playing reed organ, in an elaborate carved oak case over 8 feet high.
It has a console with 28 orchestral 'stops'; uses the 'Wright System' reed resonators, and was originally supplied by the Aeolian Company, London, to the Pears (Soap) family in about 1898.
The organ can be used with either electric motor or with foot pedals, and has knee operated swell shutters.
David Burville demonstrates it here, with part of a roll entitled 'Martha Potpourri'.

  • @DuoArtDanOz Thanks - I loved the sound of this orchestrelle, but at 8 feet tall it's a bit big for my house...

  • This is the largest single manual model as Aeolian built a larger 116 note 2 manual and pedal orchestrelle which used the same rolls as the Aeolian Pipe organ.

  • Beautiful ! Is this Orchestrelle still for sale ? Lacagenoel@aol.com
