Javed Chaudhry - host of Kal Tak program in Pakistan - attributes the ongoing rise of India to the greatness of its leadership. He references the personal character and political principles of India's second Prime Minister, Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri, to explain how a nation's leadership must exhibit two key qualities in order for a country to progress: (a) simplicity and integrity, and (b) sensitivity and responsibility. According to Javed, Mr. Shastri led a simple life and never stooped to corruption despite opportunities afforded by his stature and power. Similarly, Mr. Shastri demonstrated extreme sensitivity to public opinion and considered himself to be personally responsible for public welfare.

  • I am a Pakistani and I sometimes think why should I hate Mr. Lal Bahadur Shahstri just because he was an Indian. No, that would be extremely insane of me. He was a great leader because he was honest and highly committed to his people. After having a little study about him, I can say he has a special place in my heart. Great man.

  • sorry to say ootar(Uttar) pradesh today is run by one of the most corrupt ladies Mayawati, she'll very well compete with your pakistani corrupt leaders. For once i have an agreement with you ;)
