OMG! What a mess, I don't understand enough about the legal system in Russia,but looks like you really were screwed. For now all I can say is Move to Phoenix Arizona, become a US Citizen then if something weird happens like what happened to you, you'd have the oppertunity to sew the pants off who ever cheated you. Bythe way California treats illegal immigarnts better than you were treated,they even get free health care! Best wishes in your efforts.

Indeed, we were put in a very inconvenient situation and the worst thing about it is that local authorities don't see anything bad or iilegal in it! Yeah, in any other democratic or on -the-way-to-being-democratic country we would have been treated in accordance with the law.
