Fleet Aircraft
Takeoffs
2002 NAS Oceana Airshow
NAS Oceana, Virginia
Saturday September 21, 2002
IN THIS VIDEO, watch as aircraft representing the fleet take off one-by-one from Runway 5R. Participating aircraft include F/A-18C Hornets from VFA-136 "Knighthawks" and VFA-106 "Gladiators" and F-14 Tomcats from VF-101 "Grim Reapers", VF-11 "Red Rippers" and VF-143 "Pukin' Dogs". Having been my first Oceana Airshow, let's just say that I was a wee bit overwhelmed with this sight!
If you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft or of airshows, interested in everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will be, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), and/or everything related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please visit Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .

Hey I was in VF-11 at this time. Our CO was Gagnon. He was my first CO. Short bald headed white guy with a mustache. He was alright. I remember that little silver car and I think he had 2 little girls at the time. This is cool footage. I did maitenance with the squadron. SK2

They should've let the Hornets take off first, they look pretty puny after watching all the Tomcats go by.
Tomcats by choice, Hornets by mandate.
