As most of you know I have been training for my first half marathon! The training has been going really well and I'm really excited about the big day! I'm definitely nervous, but I'm more excited than anything!
Normally I can run an 8 minute mile but there is absolutely no way that I could do that for 13 miles, not at this time in my life anyway. So as part of my training, on my runs I do a 13 minute pace, which is obviously a 13 minute mile. Running a 13 minute pace for 13 miles is so much more realistic than running an 8 minute pace for 13 miles!
That is the only part that has been a little challenging, running so slow. It's crazy, I can speed walk at the same pace as I run! When I run I sometimes get passed by speed walkers!!!!!!!
I only have one goal for this marathon and that is to finish! I don't have a certain time I want to run it in and I don't have a record to beat, I just want to cross the finish line in one piece!
That's exactly what I want to talk about today...setting goals for you. I personally feel that setting goals for yourself is one of the most beneficial things that you can do for yourself in life.
It doesn't have to be for just one specific area, it can and should be for EVERY part of your life! Personal, Business, Financial, Spiritual, Health and Wellness, etc
I personally don't see how ANYONE can work towards something or work for something and not have a goal set in place for what they want to accomplish....doing that makes absolutely no sense to me.
I enjoy setting goals for myself. It's a good feeling when you achieve the goals that you have set. It's like..."wow that is awesome" :)
And like I said, it doesn't have to be for just one area of your life!
For my marathon, my goal is extremely simple and basic...I just want to finish!
When I started building my business I sat down and did some major goal setting. I made a game plan of exactly what I wanted to do and I taped it to my bathroom mirror. That way, anytime I went in there, I had to look at it and it always reminded me of what I was working towards. And it didn't come down until every goal was met
A good example of this...
Back in March the company that I work with was having a promotion for a trip that they were giving away to Huntington Beach, California. I saw the opportunity for me to go and again...I sat down and mapped out a game plan of how I was going to win.
I wrote everything down and taped it to my mirror along with the Title of the Contest, the name of the city (Huntington Beach) and the deadline of when the contest was over....and that paper DID NOT come down! I left it up there until the contest was over and I ended up winning one of the spots to go on the trip...and I'm not saying any of this to brag or boast but to show you the power of setting goals
I might have had a chance to win by just "getting by" but I know that setting those goals really pushed me and reminded me just how badly I wanted to go on that trip.
So now I encourage you to start setting goals for yourself...
If it's financial, write down whatever goal it is that you have
If it's spiritual, same thing
If it's for your home based business, MLM, network marketing, pyramid scheme, direct sales, traditional business, online business, whatever you want to call it ;) Or if you are associated with any of these companies... You will be able to see your dreams coming true and your goals being met with each day that goes by!!! It all starts by writing them down!!!
