We ended up staying at the Luxor and loved it.
We did the "$20 Sandwich trick"
And we got upgraded from pyramid deluxe to tower deluxe, which is only like $20 more for a week. But he put us on an amazing view on the strip side, way up on the 16th floor (one of the only people on that floor in March)

Depends on your demographic and what you are looking for you in your Vegas experience.
The Hard Rock is geared more towards those in their 20s, perhaps Bachelor or Bachelorette party goers. Lots of drinking, lots of wild, crazy people.
It is also the more expensive of the two.
I stayed at the Luxor 2 years ago for my 21st birthday with my parents, it was great.
However, I am going back in January with 5 buddies for a Bach. Party...we will be at Hard Rock.

I went there in Winter 08 for the first time, I fell in love. I go there everytime right after finishing my finals. I can't wait for Dec 8th. After that I head out to UT w/ my gf

Hard rock is cool but in Vegas you got to be on the STRIP!!!!!!!!

they renovated everything..even the older room they are all re done!! they are very nice.. only stay in this hotel if you like to be around a young crowd ages 21-35.. and you better like to party! if not i do not suggest staying there...well thats only if u go in the summer...
