Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
The internationally renowned Mozart interpreter Sir Colin Davis conducts the chorus and orchestra of the Royal Opera House and a glittering cast in David McVicar's 2003 production of the opera Mozart wrote in the final year of his life, recorded live at Covent Garden.
Sir Colin Davis, conductor Mozart is the greatest ever. Some from here have no idea of Mozart!

It's a genial performance, just like the man himself. Fluffs the first allegro, though (2nd violins), but makes sure to nail it after the second lot of masonic chords.

nope, I dislike that interpretation. sounds as f the handbrake is on and lacks the passion. Other versions here on youtube are way better, for example Toscanini

My favorite part of the Overture is the ending, starting at 7:03. It's marvelous.

What about the William Tell and Barber of Seville overtures by Rossini?

it's a tough decision, which overture I like more. I'd assume the Figaro one is more popular
