Pardon me for interfering in something that's probably none of my business. But if you take away the factor of fatherless households black and white crime statistics are about the same.

@sancofa7 i agree wit you on some parts, but i don't agree wit you on only blaming hip-hop, for the violence in the community.cus i've seen doctors, n big men that listens to 50 cent, jay-z n more..me MY self, i listen to hip-hop,but you don't see me going to someone's house banging thier heads off..the problem is dat the black family has no FATHER FIGURE,.n second there's no discipline..this is why BLACKS IN AFRICA,always respects..without these 2 keys, our black family will never be stable

That kid was in the middle of it. He wasn't "just walking by". You can clearly see him in taking a swing at someone running by. I'm not saying he deserved to die. But he damn sure wasn't just walking by. He was scrappin' with the rest of them.

Why is it when a young black boy wants to be responsible, upstanding, and intelligent, something like this happens to him? That poor Derrion had his whole life ahead of him! He deserved so much better.
Wow, you're from the Twin Cities? That's awesome lovelyti2002! I've been here in Minnesota for almost 8 years now and I love it!

that is very good. you covered every topic and our issues as black people 100 percent. We need to wake up.
the question is
'DOES HIP-HOP HAVE A PART TO PLAY IN THIS?'
Nowadays u got people talking bout selling crack & killing niggaz.. That must have an effect on the younger generation who look up 2 des indivisuals. Dis shit is alot more den jus entertainment....trust me
what people need to understand is dat music is a very powerful tool. With music u can change a person's whole identity. The gang culture is fueled by gangsta rap....i dont give a fuck i said it.

That's a problem.
When will black people reject popular culture targeted at young black males to turn them into cold-blooded killing machines?
When will black youth reject a popular culture that claims that reading a book is "acting white"?
When will black youth reject a popular culture that celebrates luxuries, women, money and guns while it enslaves the mind and destroys the spirit?
