Welcome to VIOLENT ITALY. A movie review show hosted by Rev. Phantom. This week the Reverend takes a look at Mario Bava's RABID DOGS and Michele Soavi's STAGE FRIGHT. Also George Eastman is inducted into the Violent Italy Hall of Fame. Plus a DVD box set giveaway!

(Keep in mind this is my first time doing reviews like this, as well as using Final Cut Express and I'm still working out the kinks. Any ideas or feedback would be much appreciated.)

  • What, there aren't actually any rabid dogs in the movie? Damn.

  • @VergilsRespite -- No one has stage fright in Stage Fright either.

  • Great reviews mate, also a huge eurocrime and italian genre cinema fan. Rabid Dogs still to be seen ... sitting in the shelf for way to long now ^^

Looking very forward to the next installments ... quick question though: the song starting @ 01:00 ... is this a theme from a movie ? would love to get the name to that one (theme or movie) :)

    thx and c ya round.

  • @zkrat01 - Always cool to meet another fan. The song is "Come Un Romanzo" by Calibro 35. They do a lot of covers of songs from Italian films--not sure if that one is original or from a film though.

  • My favourite non-Leone spaghetti western is Fulci's _I quattro dell'apocalisse_ aka _Four of the Apocalypse_. There's something about westerns set in the snow that I find strangely appealing. It's the best of Fulci's forays into the genre, and the graphic violence hints at what was to come in his horror movies of the late seventies/early eighties. Good Fabio Frizzi score too.

  • @Seamaster73 Right on. You are now entered into the giveaway.
