Often attributed to Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1710-1736), this arietta is more likely a nineteenth-century work by Alessandro Parisotti (1853-1913).

  • is it just me, or did i hear a tril or two in there? i just barely learned about trils about three weeks ago, because my choir is singing laudate domino by mozart. i'm a soprano, and i absolutely love singing them. i'm singing se tu m'ami for my voice teacher and i was just wondering if you had any pointers on it, i would really appreciate it. oh and i would love to hear you sing the begining solo to laudate... it would be awesome. ha

  • Yes, you did hear a trill or two. I am truly flattered that you would seek my opinions on this piece as I am largely untrained. My best advice would be to follow your voice teacher's instructions on this and other pieces that he or she assigns. I also remember Mozart's Laudate Domino. My college choir sang it during my freshman year. It is a sublimely beautiful piece that I have often thought about singing myself. By the way--if you need a midi file of this aria, just ask!

  • Sir, you are amazing!

I'm doing this piece for solo and ensemble (like everyone else :P) and this was a huge help. Thank you!

  • Thank you for your kind comments. If you would like a practice midi file of this piece, just specify a key and a tempo and tell me where to e-mail it, and I will send the file right away! Thanks again for listening and commenting.

  • you are absolutely amazing!I am currently studying at McGill University in Canada, and I've worked on this song before, and am re-visitng it now, along with Per la Gloria and Amarilli.I am watching all your videos to help learn my songs because I think you are fantastic! Keep singing!!

  • Thanks for the kind comments. If you would like practice midi files of any of the pieces you mentioned, just specify a key and tempo, and give me an e-mail address to send them to, and I will get them to you ASAP. Thanks again for listening and commenting!

  • This is incredible. Ill tell you one thing, I did not expect that voice to come out of your mouth, and i dont mean that in a degrading way.

Also, i believe you are using the Twenty-four Italian Songs and Arias. I am obsesses with this book, you have no idea.

Great job, it will definitely help me prepare for my audition.

  • @lyrictosca Sorry, I have family that logs onto my account without me knowing. Although I do think he's good, and agree with your comment on most Americans being ignorant to good music (I'm American so I guessing I'm dissing my own country).

  • @sdog1234 Nah, they're too ignorant and would not appreciate him. I think he's wonderful.
