Traveling by canoe, you can bring extra food, and dont have to walk or carry anything. But you have to paddle until your arms fall off. Then it rains. Had no idea Thoreau canoed here 130 years prior to this trip. Lobster Lake is a one of the most beautiful lakes on earth. Connects to West Branch via Lobster Stream which is featured in The Maine Woods by HDT. Thanks to Thoreau, whose name translated in a Norwegian/French hybrid equates to God of Thunder Water, His Black Spruce Root String Making Penobscot Guide Joe, The North Maine Woods, Katahdin Air and Larry and Don.
