No-kill communities are possible & exist. See info about the growing list on NoKillNews (dot) com of places that are implementing the No Kill Equation, the set of programs & policies that make successful communities possible. Info includes the Calgary model where barriers to licensing are removed so all animals are licensed; fees pay for vet care for shelter animals & free spay/neuter for pets of low income families. The Nova Scotia SPCA has implemented the NKE.

haha you right, that is why i never watch the news.

@ohgoodjoy do you realize how stupid that statement is?
1) you capture 70% of ferals and kill. 30% still breed, only 30% to kill wildlife.
2) you capture 70% of ferals, spay, release. 30% still breed, 100% kill wildlife.
killing works better. cats are 2.5x more likely to spread rabies than dogs or foxes. cats are destroying native bird populations. cats are not native...therefore they must be eradicated.

@ohgoodjoy TNR is bullcrap. feral cats should all be killed. they are more than a nuisance, they are disease carriers, and the destroy native wildlife. cats are not natural...they are an introduced species, so all feral ones need to die.

I don't think most no-kill advocates are opposed to euthanasia if the animal is obviously suffering from some sort of debilitating condition.
Rather, they want a trap-neuter-release program for feral cats and a policy of refusing to euthanize perfectly HEALTHY animals.

Euthanasia is sometimes only an option. sorry but its true

No kill supporters are not thinking about logic. Why not kill a old sick or dieng animal. It puts them at peace forever instead of being in misery!
-
Bureaucratic nazis - have to kill animals if they're injured???? WTF, I thought that was what veterinarians did, made them well again. Yet not allowed to help a terminally ill human who is suffering and wants to die.
Whatever happened to unbiased reporting? Professional journalists and reporters should just report the facts. Instead, this "news" anchor takes an opportunity to express her own personal opinion as fact. And so many viewers are just "sheep" and won't ever hear the other side of the story. There are two sides to the no-kill argument. The journalism "profession" is gone.

@svvmichael1 If you want the cats gone that's what TNR does. If you just catch a bunch of feral cats and euthanize them the ones that you didn't catch will still breed and maintain the population. If you TNR 70% of them, the cats will disappear in a few generations.
