@repoman54r Leif Ove Andsnes is comparable, or 'gets near' if so to speak if you ask me ;). But still, yes: incredible.

looking at this photo is almost like Ashkenazy just dropped the batton, kicked the soloist off and totally owned the cadenza incase theirs wouldn't reach his standard!!! LOL

Extraordinary playing, he achieves great power and grandeur for the slightly built individual he is.

@sergej992 I heard Ashkenazy live many times and played under him in an orchestra when he was soloist in two incredibly brilliant concertos and when he conducted. I have enormous respect for this very humble friendly man.

Most people don't think so but i'm with u.
Vladimir Ashkenazy has incredible deep understanding of Rachmaninov.This is amazingly good.

There is no comparison to Ashkenazy's performance of the rach 3. i hold this performance nearest to my heart and soul in my music collection
