A bonus fix for this week on Trust
WIthout trust between parents, players and programs it becomes very difficult for players improve consistently. Often what happens in a practice is not relayed properly when a student returns home to mom and dad.
A well run program is going to push a students buttons from time to time getting them out of their comfort zone so they can grow as a person and as a tennis players. This process is not comfortable at times, and without trust it will be easy to pick up and move to another program that is happy to tell the parent and player what they want to hear, not what they NEED to hear.
At HAT we are focused on building trust and as we understand that a big part of building that trust is often telling parents and players what they NEED to hear! If the time has been put in and the player understands how much the coach cares, then it becomes a much easier process. Their will inevitably be ups and downs in any relationship inside and outside of tennis. If there is a faulty trust foundation build, then the building is destine to crash to the ground.
Conclusion - Research programs, make sure you are getting factual information not just believable information, then trust that program through the good and bad times. Make sure to ask questions and listen to the answers. Where there is trust, there is a foundation for a bright future.
