Feb. 22 - At ten weeks of age, little polar bear "Flocke" (Snowflake) is starting to grow into the the predator she was born to be. Zoo keepers looking after her stated the 16-pound bear was trying to shred everything in reach, using her teeth and claws.

  • To all the people saying she should live in a natural environment.

    1. Not gonna happen because her mother abandoned her. The people feeding her are part of a rescue team.

    2. Going with your logic, you have convinced me. I will now set my Yellow Lab free in the forest.

  • CUTE? yes, perhaps. but what a horrible place to live in!! nothing at all natural?? His cries were so pitiful.

  • Flocke is a girl just to let all you know.

  • Gimmie dat milk NOW bitch!!!

  • soon i hope he gives me a soda

  • awwww i want it!!!

  • @nusua You're quite right. These bears should not be treated as bears. The only thing they'll likely do in a natural environment is die. Hard to keep as a pet as the size and power, and difficulty understanding the difference between itself and other people, make it dangerous. Would have been nice to see if the two, Knut and Flocke, could have made companions for each other.

  • That's one cute little dude!

  • @Caonabo in no way, shape or form is it in agony or in danger, so it's cries are probably for something else, be it attention, looking for her brother, food, or trying to find something to interact with.

kinda like when a human baby wants something and will stop crying until it gets it. except this one can crawl pretty well.

  • i dont know if half of you are serious about some of these comments (besides the obvious ones), but a bear who was taken in since birth does not know anything of the wilderness or the outside habitat. Whatever environment it grew in, it considers it's home, because that's how it grew up to know whats normal.

how far animal instinct stretch (and animals do have some animal instincts at birth), only truly kicks in the sense of agony and danger when it is out of it's niche.

  • @jcsowerby that wasnt his cries it was a bird

  • I am willing to bet that most of the people who put negative comments have not educated themselves regarding polar bears.
