On the 4/09/1996 Kyoko Date was one of the first Virtual Idols to come out in Japan. Also known as DK-96 (the initials stands for Digital Kid) released a single titled "Shining Like a Star" with a band called "House Foundation".
Two months later on the 21/11/1996 she had her second single (often mistaken to be the first single) titled "Love Communication" with a different band called "Summer of Love". In February 1999 she made her debut in Korea with an album titled "Between" which featured nine songs and changed her name to "diki".
This music video comes directly from the actual single.

  • Is this the Cyber Idol that co-hosted the MTV Music Awards a few years back? At least I think it was the MTV Music Awards, it could have been something else.

  • @superjon89 I need more info.

  • different from a vocaloid in that she has a voice actress who sings the songs for her

wheras vocaloids go through a process of having the entire japanese alphabet recorded as well as several words, the they all need to be compressed and digitized

  • It's sad how her fame ended quickly.....she's awesome! D,:

  • Is she Ami Yamato's mom?

  • she's in our school book O.O

  • guat daa ...

  • Virtual Voice by vocaloid, virtual human modelling in 3d, programmed movements,

    is this a real star?

  • @superjon89 The character your referring to is called Ulala, she is the main character in the Space Channel 5 franchise of rhythm games Sega made, she co-hosted the 2000 MTV Music Awards when Sega was still promoting the Sega Dreamcast, and was eager to show off their hip new franchise. While it never caught on like DDR, the franchise still has a cult following among video game fans. On a side note, her character is a reporter, and doesn't sing in the games, just dances.

  • is anyone a just little creeped out by her dancing..? haha

  • So sad, and before anyone foes "Why come here?!?!" it's to marvel at idiots.

  • clearly, she is deep in the bottom of the uncanny valley...
