This is one for the history books. The undisputed best violinist and best violist of the 20th century playing the best violin-viola double concerto. (Are there any others?)

Great job and thanks for posting. Anybody know about their other recording with the long cadenza? Real Hollywood-style.

I am aware that this piece calls for the scordatura, but a lot of violists ignore it and play the piece in E-Flat Major, for some reason it seemed to me like Primrose wouldn't be one to tune his strings up.

Woah I really do think Primrose tuned his strings up for this recording. His A-flat on the d string resonates the way a G normally would. Idk I might be hearing things but his viola really does sound different.

best recording.
